About: Rio Celeste Hike
Located about 2.5 hours from Tamarindo, this adventure is the Rio Celeste Hike, a 5K journey through the rainforest, so be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes. You’ll encounter various critters along the way, and we’ll do our best to help you spot them. This area is home to Toucans, sloths, and the Blue Jeans Frog. Rio Celeste (Celestial River) is located in Tenorio Volcano National Park and is a must-see attraction because of the beautiful turquoise-colored water it produces. In addition, Rio Celeste borders several natural hot springs and boasts a breathtaking waterfall. The guides at Rio Celeste are very knowledgeable and have over 20 years of experience in the area. They are passionate about Rio Celeste and are always excited to share information about the river and surrounding areas. This private tour is designed to give you the best experience, combining knowledge and beauty to make it the perfect day. While swimming inside the park is forbidden, there are spots outside of the entrance where you can take a refreshing dip.
It takes about an hour to hike to the waterfall from the park’s entrance, and several stairs are involved. Therefore, you need to be able to walk unassisted to get to the waterfall. Next, we will head over to see the most adorable creatures Costa Rica offers – Sloths! Though they can be challenging to spot because they barely make noise and move incredibly slowly, our eagle-eyed guides can always find them. Fun fact – Sloths only come down from the trees once a week to use the bathroom!
