About: Miravalles Volcano & Cortez Falls
The Miravalles Volcano, located in Guanacaste Province, is home to the most extensively developed geothermal field in Costa Rica. Despite being approximately 1.5 million years old and having last erupted in 1946, the volcano still generates a very high heat flow. This heat is harnessed to power a nearby geothermal plant. Miravalles is situated inland, yet is only a few hours’ drive from various beach towns, such as Playa Tamarindo.
One of the most beautiful waterfalls in Costa Rica is Llanos de Cortez. While it may not be the tallest or grandest waterfall, it is definitely worth the trip. At the base of the falls, there is a perfect pool for swimming or cooling off, as well as a small sandy beach area where you can take in the natural beauty of Costa Rica. Join us for a day of natural beauty and a touch of Costa Rican culture.
